Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar was linked with a move away from the club in the January transfer window, with Arsenal said to be among the sides interested in acquiring his services.
The Croatian international has been impressive since signing for Pompey in 2006, scoring nine goals in 87 appearances for the south coast club.
The 24-year-old, who has already won 46 full caps for his country, has admitted that he could be on his way out of Fratton Park at the end of the season, but insisted it is not because of the team's current league position.
According to British tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror, when asked whether his desire for a switch was due to fears of relegation he replied, "No. It was always my intention to move to a bigger club - it is always like that in your career. If an offer came from a larger club, of course I would want to go."
The 6ft 1in former Hajduk Split midfielder is confident that whoever takes over from Tony Adams will be able to guide the club to safety come the end of the season.
"There are lots of teams in a similar situation,” he stated. “We know we must fight to stay up and we are ready."
