THQ has announced that UFC Undisputed 3 will mark a return to the Octagon for the MMA series, with an increased focus on ' toe-to-toe combat', improved visual presentation and accessibility. New features will include the PRIDE Mode, two new weight classes (featherweight and bantamweight) and an expanded roster consisting of more than 150 UFC fighters.

PRIDE Mode will enable players to fight in the renowned Japanese MMA organisation, with commentators Bas Rutten and Stephen Quadros overseeing the action. The Japanese MMA rules will be in place for the PRIDE Mode, with soccer-style kicks, head stomps and ground knees to the head all allowed.

“UFC Undisputed 3 is on track to deliver an incredible virtual MMA experience unlike any other,” said Danny Bilson, Executive Vice President of Core Games at THQ. “This product is intense, engaging and highly competitive while still being extremely accessible, making it a must-have for millions of UFC fans, traditional fighting game enthusiasts and more casual sports fans around the world.”

“We are excited to launch UFC Undisputed 3 in January 2012 and expect it to be the best version yet,” UFC President Dana White said. “We’ve added two new weight classes and several new features to the game that will bring UFC fans closer to the Octagon than ever before.”

There's also a new submission system and the improved visual presentation includes fighter entrances, new camera positions, improved facial animation and a gritty, high contrast look. Finally, the online modes will also be given a revamp for UFC Undisputed 3, which is set to release in January 2012.

I'm guessing PRIDE mode will be in a ring like PRIDE was?

As for Bantam and Feather Weights, this is because UFC's sister company WEC which feature smaller weight classes are merging with UFC.
