Bothered about the lack of co-op in Modern Warfare 3's campaign? Don't be, because Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer have got you covered. This year they're paying particular attention to the game's co-operative Spec Ops mode.
Speaking to USA Today, Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling revealed that Spec Ops will feature a new ranking system, matchmaking system and leaderboards. He also said that the new Survival Mode will take place in the game's multiplayer maps, as opposed to the single-player maps as before.
"All that stuff really fleshes out Spec Ops and adds in a lot that we know our fans are going to love, some of the most addictive aspects of Multiplayer," said Bowling.
The intention is for Spec Ops to act as a kind of training ground for those who are hesitant to make the jump to multiplayer, according to Sledgehammer boss Michael Condrey.
"There's such hard-core players out there in the online community and you hear all the stories about the eight-year-olds, 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds swearing and ruining the experience," he said.
"With Spec Ops, you can really get in there and hone your skills in a more confined environment. I think it's a little more of an easy entry. I don't have as much time as I did when I was 20 to be honing my twitch skills, but this certainly gives me a venue to experiment."
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 hits consoles around the world on the 8th November.

Call Of Duty Set For Monthly Fees
Call of Duty series of hugely popular first person shooters will see a monthly subscription rate – dubbed “Call of Duty Elite” – starting with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
The publisher, according to the website, plans to launch the online service to run alongside all of the series from this point in. The monthly subscription fee for the service will “provide extra content that isn’t offered on game discs sold in stores” it says, “including downloadable map packs that give players new levels to play.”
Although there’s no price set yet, some expect the service to cost less $7.99, although there will be some free features, such as the ability to “meet for online gun battles with others who share various affiliations and interests.” To clarify: the actual online gaming will still be included in the price of the game – there is no monthly fee to just play.
The WSJ reports that the Elite fee will focus on extras, such as tools to analyse player performance.
“Call of Duty is in a unique position to seek a monthly fee from customers,” says the site. “The game’s previous installment, set during the Cold War and called Call of Duty: Black Ops, was the best-selling game last year, with global retail sales of more than $1 billion during its first six weeks on shelves.”
Career: Detailed player stats (kill to death ratio, time spent, favourite weapons, loadouts, level, saved screenshots and videos, personal bests, etc). Players can view results from recent matches, via timeline and map showing every kill and death (including location of killer/victim). Can compare directly with other players by searching for their gamertag.
Connect: Join groups based on interest. For example, search for ‘photography’ and you are automatically entered into a group with other players have the same interest. If the group doesn’t exist, Elite automatically creates it. You can then access Career stats for group members. Can also browse theatre mode and videos. Looking through most liked, most viewed, staff picks, most recent or any videos you are tagged in. MW3 will introduce clan support.
Compete: Regular events and competitions set up by developers, e.g. highest kill streak, screenshot or video competitions, etc. Prizes range from special emblems for your profile to COD merchandise, an iPad 2 and a Jeep Cherokee. MW3 will introduce group vs group competitions, clan vs clan, intra-clan competition and leagues.
Improve: Detailed information on every weapon, perk and map in the game, including tips, stats and video guides from pros. Maps show objective locations for different types of multiplayer mode. Shows more player stats (e.g. how many times people have used each kill streak bonus). After MW3, Elite will call on entire Call of Duty community to provide expertise and guidance.

this ad debuted during the champions league final at half time too I think, which was good marketing.
it does shit all over the other "action filled" game adverts by adding the personal, with the indevidual countries. Then with the siren noise set to be like a heartbeat. Ending it with WW3 MW3 is nice too, looks to me like it will really deserve the game of the year title it will win anyway.

I won't be paying for the "Call of Duty Elite" service. Would I still be able to play MW3 online regularly however?

Just being curious. I like to know a few things about a game before I buy it.

They little bird flock will be ai controlled. Kinda like attack helicopters but with less power.
I've only just seen the death streaks on that link. No idea why deathstreaks are back and I really do hope that Last Stand and Martrydom are not in the game.

Reading about the perks for tier 2 it looks like there is some strong competition in that tier to combat Assassin for campers.
The gamemode "Kill confirmed" is bascially a Team Deathmatch but when you kill someone you have to collect their dog tags. If you get killed but a team mate kills the enemy who killed you and picks up your dog tags, this prevents them getting the points.
