- It seems that Max is most definitely back and “isn’t the booze-soaked hulk we’d been led to expect.” The new issue of Edge has all the details, and the game is set in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and is a joint effort between Rockstar Vancouver, New England, Toronto, and London.
Max Payne 3′s art director, Rob Nelson, had the following to say:
“We have a lot of talented people across all our studios and this just means we can bring the right people in for a specific task when needed – and it gives the games a consistant level of quality and an approach that’s Rockstar.”
Bullet-time makes a return, with the meter being charged by killing enemies. There’s a wheel-based weapon selection system in place too, which should hopefully allow for a smooth transition between weapons. The environments are fully destructible, which is bad news for Max as a new cover system uses it.
To up the realism, hundreds of hours of motion capture footage have been recorded. Despite releasing details to the contrary, Max Payne’s original voice artist will once again take on his role.
As with seemingly every game these days, Max Payne 3 will ship with an online multiplayer, although there are no details as to how this will work. | |
